Bentonites

Bentonite is an absorbent aluminium phyllosilicate, in general, impure clay. Bentonite clay is composed of microscopic platelets consisting of layers of aluminum hydroxide held between layers of silicate atoms. These platelets are stacked one on top of the other.Bentonites with a high content of montmorillonite, for obtaining the required parameters at relatively low concentrations of 3-5% are mainly used for the drilling mud preparation. The essential features of bentonite are high dispersability, ability to adsorption, ion exchange, swelling and thixotropic properties.

Most common materials used in Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) are activated bentonites. HEADS offers best quality bentonite products for HDD, microtunneling, oil and hydrogeological drilling, and also for diaphragm walls and heat pumps.
